100% solids polyurethane coatings
It usually has two components isocyanate rich solution and polyol rich solution, defined as ASTM D16 Type V polyurethane coating. A polyurethane coating film is formed when these two components are combined when a rapid and exothermic chemical polymerization reaction occurs.
The term '100% solids' means that the coating does not use any solvent to dissolve carry or reduce any of the coating resins. The resins are normally in a liquid state and turn to a 100%, solid film after applying. The coating system's viscosity depends on the selection and design of resin components and not by the addition of a solvent, though solvents are usually used to reduce the viscosity. So, a good chemist can design a 100% solids polyurethane coating system with very low viscosity (or any low viscosity) without using any solvents.
