Your Questions About Landscape Jobs Mn

Monday, August 22nd, 2011 by Suntan

Nancy asks…

I’m looking to moved to Minnesota in the next 2 years.?

What is your opinion as to where in MN is the best place to move? Be it landscape, weather, people or jobs.

Suntan answers:

Minnesota is a great place, top of the list for health, jobs, etc. If you get a map, pretty much everything south of the Minneapolis is kind of flat. North it is much more rugged due to the glaciers. If you are going to live in the Minneapolis-St Paul area, I would recommend living just NORTH of the cities if not in the cities. As you go further north, the winters get more and more harsh so keep that in mind. Traffic has greatly increased over the past 30 years so before buying a home, do a test drive from that location to where you will work.

Paul asks…

How to deal with annoying neighbors?

I just moved up north in MN and my new neighbors seemed nice at first but now they are driving me crazy! The husband is an alcoholic and sometimes when he’s drunk he’ll prank call me at night when im sleeping. The teenage twins play paintball in there backyard all the time with there friends when im working on the landscape and sometimes I or my proberty gets hit and they would just run away. The wife thinks im her best friend and she never thinks that i’ll be mad if she “borrows” my stuff like my weed whipper. Also the kids blew fireworks on my proberty while i was at my cabin. And the police aren’t helping me with that problem either. Please help i can’t leave because i moved in my new home for my job because i got transfered.

Suntan answers:

Oooo tough one if your looking for revenge its going to be really hard specially because they have kids… Why not try calling a pizza place and ordering 30 xl pizzas to there house. (try a payphone) or you could try to scare the cr@p out of the kids. And for the wife tell her you baked cookies or something and make them disgusting!!! That would shut them up :)

Lisa asks…

Terrible Townhome Association?

Our homeowners association is terrible. My house looks like it’s abandoned in the front. There’s a shrub (NOT a tree, a SHRUB) that has grown 1+1/2 stories and actually touches my roof! Half of that has blown-down in a storm and is flat on the yard. The rocks from the landscaping have long since escaped the plastic border that once held them in and they’re not contained at all and go into the grass and sidewalk.
Then there’s the service….the plow barely comes (big snow in winter – MN) and I often have to shovel a path too the road myself. I’ve complained, but the assoc. pres. jumped down my throat and denied the shoddy job. Nothing has been fixed (minor) that were pointed out in the inspection when we moved in (2+ years ago!). They painted our deck with stain and it’s bubbled and cracked…it’s not up to code and is literally propped-up.
They’ve even increased our dues by $55/month at the beginning of the year promising improvements, but still nothing. What can I do?
We live in a REALLY nice neighborhood, too! Most of the single homes are $300-500K in a 5 mile radius.
To be fair, the roof and siding are perfect. The landscaping and other maintenance looks like it hasn’t been touched in 10 years! No one has ever pruned a shrub, planted a plant, replaced mulch, etc… We have to water our own lawns, but they do mow once in a while.
I have complained several times about the deck and even had the president over looking at it and everyone agrees it looks like a 5-year-old did it. Still, nothing’s been done or even promised. No solutions have ever been made to correct it!
In response to the first answer:
The President resigned (total whacko, so we’re all really happy) about 2 months ago. No one is running the association now, she scared most of the volunteers off, so it’s just a few people trying to keep things together. It’s just neighbors volunteering their time/work, so there is no management company or anything to keep things up to par.
As far as the neighbors banning together to demand better, everyone’s complained with no results for so long (literally decades) that I think everyone just accepts it now.

Suntan answers:

You must have association monthly meetings – right?
Well if all of the residents ban together and ask or the resignation of the board…elect a new board. This is a democracy…get the board out!

That should do it.

Good luck
