Joseph asks…

looking to buy commercial aerator if your familiar please come in?

Hello. I am looking to purchase a commercial aerator for my husband and his side/part time landscaping business. Can you please suggest a brand, and what types of stores I can find these at. Home Depot and Lowes only has the residential aerators. Any tips and help will be greatly appreciated.

Suntan answers:

Lesco, Inc. Sells them online at http://www.lesco.com/ProdCatalog/ProdCatalogNav.aspx?ProdGroupID=475 but if you are in the US then you might be better off going to one of their, which you can find by clicking on Store Finder on the webpage.

SourceOne sells the Plugr, see http://www.sourceonex.com/plugr/html/ to get more info and locate a dealer.

Ken asks…

What are some low maintenance plants to put in my garden?

I am redoing the garden in the front of my house. I am not good with plants so professional landscaping is out of the question. I just want to do it myself with some plants I can get at home depot or walmart. I need something a little easy to care fot since I am notorious for killing plants

Suntan answers:

I like Geraniums they are pretty hardy, look good in containers and in the garden, some others I like:

Pansy’s are hardy too
Petunias ,purple ones are the best smelling
Marigolds
Allyssum nice smell

What is the best way to build a lattice??? (I Plan on putting 2 up in my front yard where the land is sandy.)?

I went to different stores, i.e. Home Depot, Meijer’s, Lowe’s, and they all had the tall, flimsey, wire lattices, which I don’t believe can support a perennial. I’ve read the guidelines of how to build one, which requires pouring concrete to set up my posts, measure and cut wood, etc., but I don’t have a saw, so that’ll leave me w/a boot-leg lattice. :-) So have you heard of a lattice that is already pre-cut to reach a height of 3″ or so??? Or would you recommend for a novice to take on an endeavor of this magnitude??? I recently took on the feat of landscaping my front yard…many have counted me out, but I’m determined to do what it takes to bring my vision to life. Please help me. Any advice or guidance provided is more than appretiated…it’s direly needed. :-)

Suntan answers:

You can buy the fan-type lattice (about 6′ tall) made out of 1″ wood strips, figure out deep to bury it, I didn’t pour concrete, and then cut off the top of lattice to the height you want.(cut it before burying it) You may want to invest in a nice sharp girlie-sized handsaw, they sure come in handy! This is sturdy enough to support my jasmine, the fan type lattice are not expensive. Also, can do the same thing with the precut 4′X8′ vinyl lattice panals sold at the home depots and such, and they will cut it for you. I LOVE this kinda stuff!
