George asks…
What type/gauge wire for solar landscape (LED) wire replacement?
got these from Costco online: Westinghouse Deluxe Spotlight (model # 371102-78R)
i have limited specs on them,
I know the LED is equal to 5watt incandescent
and the batteries are 1200mah lithium…
and the cord that came preinstalled is like an RCA cable thickness (not Red/Yel/Whi but just one of the three)
but a rat chewed the cord so I gotta splice it and fix it.. I also wanted to go an extra 10 ft instead of the default 6 ft….
Any idea what cable I can get (i understand home depot/lowes will sell it) but I wanna just find some on ebay or amazon.. dont know what gauge etc to look for.. the regular cord looks like nothing more than the wire inside speaker cable.
Thanks!!!

I would use # 14 or #12 gauge wire and make sure the insulation is approved for “direct burial”. Also, if you splice the wire use a splice kit suitable for the purpose. For the amount of wire you need I would just go buy exactly what you need because you’re going to pay for shipping on top of the price of a small amount of wire if you get it online.

Looking for Black Lava Rock to finish a landscaping project. Can’t find it at any of the local retailers?
I’ve been told by Home Depot and Lowes that this problem is a supplier issue (Nashville area).

You can but it over here on the internet:

or just take other thing similar to it , take some carbon and trim it into pieces , its up to you

John asks…
I need a gate for my wire fence?
With my husband’s help, we installed a 4ft high welded wire fence with metal posts in our yard for our two dogs. It actually looks fairly decent. We didn’t get a gate though because neither Lowes nor Home Depot carried a welded wire gate or any lighter weight gate for that type of fence system. Anyone know where I could get one – maybe at a landscape company? Since I used a utility fence maybe a garden gate would work? Any ideas?

Suntan answers:
Chain link gates are easy to build and install. You could replace the chain link with the welded wire on the gate. It would blend right in.
You may have to install a post to swing the gate on, but it’s easy to do.
