William asks…
What software should I use to design my backyard?
I got a lot of space, no fence, i dont even have grass yet. So what software should i do to design a backyard?

Suntan answers:
What the other person said is bunk. Most professional landscapers use something to print out a good landscape model. I’m not here to promote one or the other as the best but here are some examples for you. You decide which is best for you.

Steven asks…
does anyone know of any websites than show free backyard chicken coop designs/plans.?
ive been looking for a while on the internet and not making any progress. it always seems o come up with the same book that you need to buy. ive ended up designing my own chicken coop. but if i find plans, it would be a great help for dimensions and measurements.
thanks heaps

Hi,
Unfortunately, building your own chicken coop is not as easy as banging some wood and wire mesh together. You need to take into account materials, insulation, ventilation, lighting, positioning, nesting, perches, litter collection and protection from the elements and other animals.
You don’t need fancy tools, basic tools like a handsaw, hammer, drill etc can build your coops but you should consid
er a ‘proper plan’ which should help you save money (up to 50%) anyway.
This isn’t free I’m afraid, but should save you money as it’s not expensive either. If you are able, you may be able to blow up the plans on the website to get enough information!!

Gino designed a garden for his rectangular backyard. The design he drew on paper is ten inches long. The length of his backyard is forty feet. If his drawing is to scale, and his backyard is twenty-eight feet wide, how many inches wide is his drawing? Write a proportion using words. Then, use the proportion to calculate the drawing width. Show your work.

Suntan answers:
10 inches = 40 feet
divide both sides by 10
1 inch = 4 feet
28 feet / 4 feet = 7
so it’s 7 inches
