Installation of French door is very easy process. We need to more conscious regarding the foundation work, as it is not a tough process to be executed, but still it should be done with high care and proper instruction. The materials, which are needed, must be used in very directive way. Materials: Prehung French doors, Level, Flat bar Wood shims, Adhesive caulk and gun, Nail set, 3" deck screws, Hammer, Finishing nails.
Process of installation:
Begin by removing the existing exterior door and frame to expose the rough opening. Apply two generous beads of waterproof, adhesive caulk to the sub sill about an inch inside the front and rear edges. Place the door in the opening and rock it into final position. If the door is a tight fit, you may need to tap it into place. Once positioned, insert shims under the threshold until the door is level. From the inside, insert shims between the door's frame and the rough opening and check that the door is plumb. Deck screws into each of the hinges to secure the door in place. To strengthen the installation, hammer finishing nails into the doorjamb at the shim locations. Drive each of the nails below the wood's surface using a nail set .Check that the door opens and closes freely. Cut the shims, caulk around the perimeter and install the locks as instructed by the manufacturer.
